Curves, curves and more curves - This is the design of an innovative housing development in London which we are working on with Richardson
Roofing Ltd of Staines. The project is an exciting one for us and makes a nice change from straight lines. Our structure is being delivered
during May and we are looking forward to seeing the finished building later in the year.
Also we are finalising designs of our third phase of roofing works at Southport College. Alpha Roofing Systems of Manchester are the successful
roofing contractor who will be carrying out this latest phase and with whom we have done a number of very successful projects recently. Alpha has
been working closely with the college over the last few months as they also required some photovoltaic panels incorporating into the design.
At the moment our production site in Rochdale is filled with cassettes for installation at HMYOI Aylesbury for Kier. The cassettes have been
fabricated by Dibsa, and then plywood, insulation and standing seem roof coverings have been swiftly and expertly installed by our parent
company DSM Roofing Ltd of Sheffield. The cassettes will then be transported to site ready to slot into place on the newly built young offenders
prison, which in turn will minimise expensive site costs.
William Cooper Ltd of Barnsley have placed orders with us for two more schools, both of which were in desperate need of our flat to pitch roof
conversion, which will not only improve the aesthetics of the buildings but will also create a longer term cost and carbon effective solution
when compared to the flat roof alternative. Martin our Drawing Office Manager has worked flat out to accommodate the required delivery date on
one of the schools. We are proud to say he has managed to achieve design and delivery of some of the steel to site three working days after receiving
the order - needless to say his Easter break wasn't much fun!

Wates praise roofing contractor – DSM Roofing of Sheffield
Dibsa Structures, Rochdale, and its parent company, DSM Roofing were highly praised at an award ceremony on Friday 19 February at
the Wates construction site in Hulme, Manchester.
The Dibsa/DSM partnership is working on a refurbishment project of four multi storey blocks of flats, providing a covered steel
structure which forms a pitched roof over the existing flat roof.
Mark Norcliffe of Wates Living
Space was extremely complementary about the work ethic of the DSM’s operatives, and Andy Bailey
received a cheque of £200 for ‘Considerate Employee’ from DSM’s CEO, Andy Foulkes.
DSM’s site manager, Greig Hinchliffe, was highly praised for his attention to detail, conscientiousness, and quick response to offer help with any issues that have arisen to
ensure that the programme continues to run to schedule.
As always, DSM employees are totally committed to health and safety on site, and all have been trained in all relevant ‘working
at height’ regulations.
January 2010 - Healthcare
Dibsa has secured roofing projects for two large modular constructed hospitals,
one in Glasgow for Adroit Modular Buildings and the other in Sunderland for Britspace.
Dibsa is also providing a complete roof solution for a Health Centre in Wigan for Eric
Wright Construction.
All three healthcare projects will be installed by DSM Roofing Ltd.
Experienced roofing contractors J & B Roofing Ltd from Preston are approaching the
end of the installation of a Dibsa clear spanning compact truss system on the fire
damaged wing at Camlet 3 Hospital in London on behalf of the Breyer Group Ltd where
access was restricted due to the temporary roof already in place.
January 2010 - Housing
Barnsley-based roofing contractors William Cooper Ltd are about to take delivery of the
fifth and final phase of what has been a very large and successful housing project in
Bradford for Main Contractor, Bermar Building Company. The various shaped buildings
have been significantly improved by installing Dibsa’s flat to pitched lightweight
steel roof system.
December 2009
Dibsa continues to provide roof structures for the National Grid substations throughout the country, with excellent installation being provided by Rooftech of Sutton, and Survey Roofing of Whyteleafe.
Dibsa’s lightweight steel structures are also being installed on a large refurbishment project for Wates Living Space in Manchester. Four tower blocks are being converted. The scheme commenced in October and will continue in the new year.
Everyone at Dibsa would like to wish all our contractors a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
December 2009 - The Dibsa Compact Truss
Dibsa has developed a unique ‘Compact’ roof truss frame that offers major
benefits where restricted site conditions or transport logistics present a problem.
The Compact truss frame is supplied with all the strut members already
located and loose bolted to the top and bottom chords of the truss.
Assembly is simply a matter of laying the component parts flat, matching
the strut ends to the corresponding chords and tightening all connections.
A major benefit of the Compact truss frame is that it can be lifted easily
onto the prepared wall plate locations in either the original flat state or
after assembly at ground level.
Savings in transport costs and hoisting requirements are achieved by using
the Compact product and contributes to Dibsa’s commitment to minimising its
carbon footprint.
Dibsa believes that this method of supplying roof structures can lead to
major savings in time, cost and risk to site personnel.
Its first application has been at Chace Farm Hospital, Enfield, London where
restricted access prevented the use of conventional bulky prefabricated truss
frames. The roofing contractor, J & B Roofing of Preston for the Breyer Group
plc installed the roof structure beneath a temporary scaffold-erected roof covering.
The Dibsa Compact solution was perhaps the only realistic construction method.
